Chado Tea: Hua Tuo

The design work done for this project was completed in a Branding Workshop during my final semester at CSULB. Our team created a sub-brand for Chado Tea Room, a tea room business that had been looking to expand their business and branding. Hua Tuo by Chado Tea seeks to enhance and revitalize your health. The mission is to promote digestion and a sense of balance with our specially curated teas: Kapha, Organic Turmeric Zest, and Organic Turmeric Comfort. The brand’s statement is to enhance your well-being and to promote a healthy lifestyle.

This work was selected by the CEO of Chado, Tek Mehreteab, as a winning design. My team mate and I were chosen as winners of a scholarship to attend a semester at Hanyang University in South Korea, taking part in the branding workshop held there by our professor.
Following Chado’s pre-established design style, we accentuate the delicacy of the brand’s image and branding with our color palette, illustrations, and use of positive & and negative space. We create an inviting and comfortable atmosphere to go along with Chado’s welcoming tearoom experience.
This design direction is timeless and true, placing an emphasis on the herbal medicine practices utilized in this line that are derived from thousands of years of tradition. The natural elements work in harmony with the line-drawn illustration style to create a design that is tasteful, detailed and graceful.
